Alanis Morissette in Toronto for press conference and awards during Canadian Music Week 2008
April 3, 2008
(March 5-08) Alanis Morissette spends a whirlwind day at Canadian Music Week accepting an industry award, talking to the press, and holding a small fans concert featuring songs from her upcoming album.
FROM THE CMW site: “Over the last couple years I realize that if I trust in generosity of spirit I will give naturally and organically,” said Alanis Morissette, when asked about her travels to India. Morissette is not just a singer/songwriter but also an actress and humanitarian and her career has seen many evolutions. Morissette just starred in an adaptation of a Phillip K. Dick novel and is currently working on a biography that she intends to release within the next year or two. Despite her success, Morissette remains humble “I think the nature of the song writing process is very grounding.”

We’re were at the Alanis PC during Canadian Music Week. This was probably the best shot I got. Hopes you like.
I was in the Alanis Morissette press conference during Canadian Music Week and she had some great insights about the music biz to share. When I asked her about the rumour that “You Can’t Do That on Television” is considering a reunion show, Alanis surprised me with a laugh and consideration that she would be willing to do it.
Part of the press conference with Alanis. A reporter asks her about the comments made by Neil Young recently, that the “time when music could change the world is past.” - Alanis gives a pretty cool response here.
I can tell you that Alanis had a very, very busy day that Friday at Canadian Music Week. She was actually currently on tour in the U.S. and flew in and out of Toronto during her action packed, award accepting and concert performing day. After the press conference at the Royal York Hotel, in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Alanis was wisked to the MTV Canada studios and performed a brief set for a very limited amount of contest winners. I was there!
From the CMW press conference. Alanis talks here about the record company model, her successful partnerships with the labels and what her peers are doing in the digital age.
