Kevin Costner and his Modern West band perform in Toronto @ Phoenix Concert Theatre - photos and video on shovine and showvine
June 25, 2008
(June 25-08) Kevin Costner and his Modern West band rolled into Toronto for a gig at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Of course, this still being “Kevin Costner” the actor - the autograph hounds, papparazzi, and media were very interested in this rather small bands appearance in the city.
OneWayGirl got these amazing pics of Costner.
Jason MacNeil of canoe.ca Jam! reviews mentions there is possibly more to this Costner concert tour then first meets the eye. It’s quite likely this is more an elaborate promotion for an upcoming Costner film.
Fortunately, the 53-year-old actor and director made sure fans were aware that he was indeed a film star with a lengthy and ridiculous 10-minute ego-boosting intro that showcased all his films both good (The Untouchables, Dances With Wolves) and bad (Waterworld). From there, the cinematic music continued as Costner, a man of the people, entered from a back door behind the audience and shook hands as he made his way to the stage.”

Kevin was super cool on the day and signed lots for the collectors and fans. I had not seen Mr. Costner this nice in quite a while.
Here is another pic of the posing Costner. Now that I am hearing this little appearance in Toronto maybe more about promoting a an upcoming Costner film - than Kevin exploring his musical side of things. I am understanding more why he was good with the fans and cameras.
Who cares if Kevin Costner was promoting anything … the montage of his films was more entertaining than the lame opening act that I could not wait to end, and his entering the venue from the back of the theatre was obviously well received by the relatively small/intimate crowd who surrounded and floated with him towards the stage… I only regret I did not have my cell phone camera at the ready to gain a decent photo of him while he did it , and while I myself, shook his hand. And, although I was at the ready with a photo of him to hand-off to gain an autograph (while all others were shoving blank paper in his face), the thing missed here is … his band was great!!! Very entertaining, down to earth rock-a-billy where everyone had a great time… Cudos to Kevin…. and his merry men… I’d do it again!!
